On Saturday, June 1, the Flatwater Tales Storytelling Festival presents the magic of live storytelling with three performances by three world-class tellers: Carmen Agra Deedy, Bil Lepp, and Bobby Norfolk. This second annual event will be held at the Historic Grove Theatre in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The tellers will share different stories at each show. The performances are from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. (Family Show), from 2 to 5 p.m., and 7 to 10 p.m.
Our tellers have achieved international recognition and appear regularly at festivals, including the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, Tennessee. Their mesmerizing performances bring people together to share the magic of this time-honored, increasingly popular art form.
The Flatwater Tales, held annually the first weekend in June, is an all-volunteer effort led by the three Oak Ridge Rotary Clubs to entertain, bring people together, and to celebrate and support our community. This year the Flatwater Tales is offered for first time at the renovated Historic Grove Theater.
On Saturday, June 1, at 10 a.m., we kick off our day of storytelling with a family event and special family pricing. For only $30 a family of 2 adults and two school-age children can attend. You can add more people to your ticket for $10 per adult and/or $5 per school age child. The show is not recommended for children younger than 5.
Flatwater Tales continues with two different shows, from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $25 per seat for a single show. Each show features different stories. For a limited time the Early Bird Festival price is $40 per seat for both the afternoon and evening shows. All tickets are open seating. The afternoon and evening shows are recommended for children 10 and older due to the length of the performances.
