Event Details
Obed WSR is encouraging school age children to begin the summer season by learning to fish with a park ranger at Nemo Picnic Area on June 11, at 10:00 AM (ET).
A park ranger will introduce school-age children to the fundamentals of fishing, help identify some of the native fish of the area and discuss why a wild and scenic river is so important. At the end of the program, youth will receive a fishing pole, tackle, and the official Junior Ranger Angler Badge.
Free Fishing Day is always the Saturday of the first full week in June. Anyone (resident or non-resident) of any age can fish free without a license in Tennessee’s public waters, agency owned and operated lakes, and parks.
Registration for this program is required. Please call 423-346-6294 to make your registration for this free ranger-led program, and for more information.
This program is made possible by the generous support of the National Park Foundation.
