Plan now to enjoy the Oak Ridge 80th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, September 10, 2022! The Oak Ridge Heritage and Preservation Association (ORHPA) will present several activities that day to commemorate the historic moment when Gen. Groves selected this area as the first to serve the top-secret Manhattan Project. Much has been accomplished by Oak Ridger’s over the past 80 years, come be part of the celebration.
The anniversary celebration will include several events that day, all are FREE and open to the public.
From 10:00am to 3:00pm, the Oak Ridge History Museum, located at 102 Robertsville Road and operated by the ORHPA will be open and not charge an admission that day. Visitors will be treated to a new attraction that day! A Silent Auction will be conducted within the museum that will include some interesting artifacts.
At 6:30pm, doors will open at the historic Grove Theater for entertainment by the Oak Ridge High School Choral Group beginning at 7:00pm. A 1940’s style Radio Show will be performed that is sure to delight.
Keynote speaker will be Cindy Kelly, president of the Atomic Heritage Foundation, with an introduction by Jim Campbell, former president of the East Tennessee Economic Council and long-time Oak Ridge resident.
